Ameh Dennis Akoh is a professor of drama and critical theory at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE- FUNAI), Nigeria. He attended the universities of Jos and Ibadan, Nigeria for his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

He has taught across five Nigerian universities, namely University of Jos, University of Ibadan, Kogi State University, Osun State University and now, AE-FUNAI. His areas of research interest include critical theory, dramatic criticism, sociology of literature and theatre, gender, postcolonial and cultural studies from which he has over 60 publications in refereed local and international journals and books.

He is a Fellow of the Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA) and the Corporate Administration Institute of Nigeria (FCAI). In 2013, he was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award of SONTA.

Professor Akoh is a recipient of several travel and research grants from the European Research Council (ERC), TETFund, American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), Indian Intercontinental and Cultural Association (IICA), among others.

He has held many administrative positions which include: Sub-Dean and Dean of faculty, Head of Department, Director of General Studies and of Research, Dean of Postgraduate Studies and Deputy Vice-Chancellor. He has also served SONTA as Treasurer, Editor and Vice-President. He is currently an Ex-Officio member of SONTA.

Professor Akoh is listed in The Year’s Work in English Studies (YWES) Index of Critics (vol.88, Iss.1, 2009, pp. 1279-1307 https://doi.org/10.1093/ywes/map020).

He is a member of several professional associations/societies including African Theatre Association (AFTA), Nigerian Society of Indigenous Knowledge and Development (NSIKAD), International Society for African Philosophy and Studies (ISAPS), International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC), International Theatre Institute (ITI), Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) and Centre for Research on Men and Masculinities (CROMM), Australia.
